join-section-background

Scout Veterinary Care was created with a simple goal: to help make the unexpected moments of pet ownership easier. Our urgent care facilities are here to support both the veterinary community and the pet community by providing accessible care when pets need it most, filling the widening gap between primary care and specialty care. Our modern and technology-driven practices are designed to make life easier for our team while providing same-day and next-day appointments to the city’s ever-growing population of dogs and cats. Cases range from routine last minute care to those requiring more extensive in-house diagnostics, treatments and nursing care.

Our commitment

Scout was built on the premise that the veterinary profession can and should be better. We can have better mental health, provide better care, be better partners, support our teams better, and grow better together.

Our Founding Team

founder-picture

Dr. Kathryn Monick

Dr. Monick is a native to Chicago and attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Her post-graduate training included a yearlong rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at VCA Aurora. Dr. Monick then went on to work at the busiest Emergency Department in Chicago for four years.

Tripp Welge

Pets have always been a meaningful part of Tripp's life — over the past few years he became increasingly aware of both the shortage of veterinarians in the field and the lack of care options available for your pets when you need it most. As an accomplished executive with a track record of building and investing in team-oriented, fast-growing companies and a frustration with the current state of the veterinary industry, Tripp set out to build a better solution for vets, pets and pet owners.

Dr. Elaine Holmes

Dr. Elaine Holmes, a Michigan native, earned her degree from MSU CVM in 2007. Following her graduation, she completed an internship at Texas A&M and a surgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania, achieving board certification as a surgeon in 2012.

Throughout her career, Dr. Holmes has exhibited unwavering dedication to her patients and clients. Her commitment extends beyond surgical expertise to fostering effective teams and providing mentorship, facilitating fulfillment and growth within her team. With roles such as Department Head, Internship Director, and Medical Director at a multi-specialty and ER hospital, she brings a wealth of experience to her current position as the Chief Medical Officer at Scout.

Actively engaged in the veterinary community, Dr. Holmes contributes to the AVMA wellbeing education program. She shares her expertise as an invited speaker at local, national, and international events. Embracing her love for teaching, she instructs courses tailored for veterinarians and technicians, further enriching the field with her knowledge and experience.

We'd love to hear from you!
